Difficulty opening PDFs with ebook reader applications

I'm trying to use an ebook reader application:
I tried the following applications:
Foliate
When I access the documents folder, it doesn't show the existing PDFs.
I checked the application settings and necessary permissions; it only has network access and doesn't list PDF file association. I didn't see how to add anything else to these items.
Koodo Reader
This one sees the PDFs, but even using the import function, it doesn't import anything.

After consulting Gemini, it recommended installing Flatseal, but I'm coming here first to ask for some guidance if possible.
Thank you

If foliate is installed as flatpak then install flatseal to set the permissions for your users files or the folders where the files are saved.

Ok
Thanks

Hello,
I installed and activated the permissions as shown in the image, and the problems still persist.

That are the right settings. I'm not sure if there might be a bug.

In the lower right corner there's a menu to display files based on their type. Did you already check the option is set to "All files"?

I'm not sure if it is what you need to get what you want but try Okular.

My suggestion is to use Calibre. It's in the Ubuntu repository, and also available as Flatpak.

It may work a bit differently than you expect - you need to add books to a designated folder (chosen on first run) before reading them in Calibre.

I was going to suggest Calibre but it came in for some stick on another thread.

Hello,
I have Calibre, but what I saw in Koodo that I didn't see in Calibre was the possibility of organizing ebooks into shelves, that is, by subject.
However, I managed to solve the above problem in the following way:

  1. I uninstalled the Koodo flatpak.
  2. I went to the official website.
  3. I downloaded a .deb file.
  4. I installed the file.
This way it is working, importing and dividing into shelves.
