After a recent update to Zorin 17.2 a new button (App...) has appeared under the start menu button by itself and I cannot find a way to disable it.
Does anybody know how to do it?

I suspect it's the shortcut for Applications Overview. Not sure why the icon is not showing, though.
Right-click the taskbar -> Taskbar Settings -> Position tab, and toggle Show applications button or Applications button, either one of the two. See if that makes a difference.
That is not it.
If I toggle Applications button (or activities, in case you meant that, since they have similar names), it will create additional button(s) underneath, but that app... will remain there:
If I make the taskbar really wide, it says Applications:
Hmm ... it could be the Applications Extension. When You click on it, does it look similar to this:
Do You have the Extension Manager installed? If not, please open Gnome Software and search for it. It looks like this:
When You have installed it, open it and on the ''Installed'' Tab scroll to this one:
Look if it is active and if yes, trun it off.

I must have accidentally turn it on when modifying the extensions yesterday.
