I upgraded my SoftMaker Office from 2024 to 2026 - it seemed to work OK to begin with but I have found two bugs.
Increasing selected text to become a larger font using the 'Font increase' tool in the Ribbon also increases all the text after the selected text, and can only get everything back to 'normal' (font all the same size) requires Ctrl+ Z to be used 3 times!
Today, I tried the toggle switch in Dark Mode which is supposed to switch between a dark document (basically the whole interface becomes dark, including the document workspace - today it just made the ribbon larger.
I have requested a refund - going back to 2024 - more stable than 2026.
Well Oops! Just had a response from the Support Team. Apparently I toggled the wrong switch. That said, the issue with the text changing size beyond selected text is a biggy. My refund was made today and I have deleted all traces of SoftMaker Office 2026. 2024 is pretty solid even if it is behind with .odt and has a poor .epub export compared to LibreOffice Writer.
Just a final point on this topic. SoftMaker release timescales used to be every three years, I started with 2018, upgraded twice, first to 2021 then 2024. I think their squashing the release timescales down to 2 years has shown to be going too fast and before bugs are ironed out.
I think I will be sticking with 2024 for many years to come.
The 2024 version meets all my needs. Its good software. I've had zero issues sharing docx and xlsx with clients. And I find its interface more elegant than some of the alternatives, which matters to me with poor eyesight.
