As a Windows user I'm accustomed to run any command with a bat-file, on my Windows 10 laptop I have different bat-files for Hibernate, Sleep, Shutdown and restart, so I can quickly do any of that. Would be nice if there was a way to create shortcuts to something similar on Zorin.
A .desktop file is similar to the shortcut on windows desktop. The only limitation they have is the type of file/command you connect to them (have them run). You can run a shell, a command or launch an app from its executable file. There are also many extensions and widgets that can be added to the desktop or Taskbar that will perform this action if clicked.
