The major flaw of destroyed wayland in 17.3 annoyed me much. Will install my gaming machine to some LTS next weekend, to get functional wayland back.
But when a format-c is required anyway, i will take my learning lesson hard and switch to Ubuntu LTS 24. We talk about April 2024 when 24 LTS has appeared.
So friday i took the time to run a usb fresh install on / but keeping the 3 existing user profiles in /home that all crashed to GDM with wayland session in 17.2 and 17.3.
With Zorin 18 all 3 profiles have no problem to use Wayland or X11 as it would be expected from a selector. So Canonical is right with the term "wayland in jammy is broken, we suggest to update to noble".
It's not required to delete whole user profiles, they work with newer wayland.
