This was happening to me also. As I was on my main machine(which I use for work) I moved to popos. The screen freezes with displaced pixels as shown above and i need to restart my system for it to work again.
And by the way, my system has nvidia gpu, and fractional scalling is off.
Hey I was on pop-os currently, I won't be able to install zorin 16 untill monday.
If it helps, I have ran the above command and it shows xserver-xorg is already installed
