Distro Hopping: CachyOS

Anyone tried CachyOS? Must say I was impressed with the installer with choice of boot system (Grub/SystemD/etc) and the amount of possible DE you could choose. I am running it as a VM with KDE and its pretty slick. The software installation program takes a bit of getting used to its pretty basic unlike Gnome-Software or Discover. Worth a look.

Some people use CahcyOS, some people love it. I personally have never used it. Zorin OS is my home, I don't need anything else. You'll have to let me know what CachyOS does for you, that Zorin doesn't.

CachyOS is my backup OS, Solus is my main OS. Main thing with Zorin is I dont like Gnome so when installing Zorin I also install Plasma. Cachy has the option of installing Gnome instead of Plasma at install time.

Plus it is fast and has the latest kernel. I just got it playing nice with Secure Boot and the forum is helpful with some obscure apps like JamesDSP. Zorin is very much tweaks to an old Ubuntu LTS.

Honestly I tried out Cachy briefly (for a couple days if I recall correctly). The main thing I took away from it was that they make mostly configuration changes to make the performance supposedly greater than others... however in my testing, I didn't really notice any tangible differences.

The other part that I noticed was how fast it rocketed in popularity compared to other distros that suddenly showed up as well. It honestly felt very similar in ways to when EndeavourOS first showed up (after taking over from Antergos), but even they didn't have nearly as high recognition as soon as they hit the scene.

That is one thing I haven't been able to figure out, is how it shot up in popularity seemingly overnight (not literally, but it's not far off from that either) when in reality it's Arch with some tweaks (again, similar to Endeavour). It honestly made me a little hesitant to continue with it much further.

Game comparisons show that CachyOS is on par with Windows, but never faster than Windows, except in cases where Windows no longer supports old games.
