I have recently installed Zorin OS in my windows laptop. When I turn off my laptop by selecting thePower-off
option it feels like the laptop is not completely off. My suspicion got even stronger when I noticed an unusual battery drain (like 10% or more) while the system is powered off.
Now, is it possible that the power-off
option doesn't shuts my system off completely and thus causing an unusual battery drain? (if yes, please, suggest a solution.)
That sounds like it is hibernating.
Are you dual booting with Windows OS?
No, I am not. I have moved from windows completely.
Can you list your system specs?
Some machine ACPI firmware settings try to preserve power states, interpreting a shutdown command as one to hibernate. You might check your BIOS settings and if Fast Boot
is enabled, disable that.
Do you have activated functions in your BIOS to load devices connected via usb when your system is turned off?
Are wake on LAN/WLAN... disabled?
Are USB devices still connected when you shut down? Try unplugging them as a test before shutting down.
