Hi everyone,
I have a quick question. In the next few days/weeks, I'm considering buying an AMD RX 9070 XT, and I was wondering if, since Zorin OS has (from what I understand) a fairly old kernel, it works on Zorin or if I should wait a bit until it's supported (given that it's quite new)?
A newer kernel may be required and installed on Zorin, or wait to 17.3 which will arrive with a newer kernel. But if it's new enough I don't know. You're looking for the latest kernel for that card.
Oh thanks, I've already heard of Liquorix but not the others , I'm going to read up a bit more to see which would be the "simplest" and "most practical" to install.
I just installed 6.12 via Ukuu. Makes my system fly even more. My AMD RX 6600 card works great. Unfortunately, Zorin has announced that 17.3 will not ship with a newer kernel (after saying publicly that 6.11 would come with 17.3). Zorin OS 17 will remain on 6.8 until June 2027. Either don't use Zorin OS or install a newer kernel, like how I did. But I don't know how much longer I'll keep using Zorin OS in light of this broken promise. Good luck in any case.
