I have a problem telling under which folder to store my extracted folders to .... I know they go into either .icons or .themes ..... but sometimes the app to be extracted does not give a hint as to wither it is an icon or theme package ..... and I can sometimes download 20-30 apps at a time of different categories ....
As far as cursors go I have just been putting them in the .icons folder or would it be better for me to make a .cursors folder ....
Cursor themes go in ~/.icons or /user/share/icons.
Creating a .cursors folder would do nothing for you.
You can usually easily tell what you have by looking inside the directory. Open an icon set folder and you will see folders arranged
16x16 24x24 48x48...
Look inside a Theme directory and you will see
gnome-shell gtk-2.0 gtk-3.0 metacity-1 xfwm4...
Thanks Aravisian .... I thought as much regarding a .cursor folder but wasn't entirely sure ....

OK off I go .... got about 30 apps to categorize ....
