The Finals had run great previously. all AMD system. Checked the power profiles, thermals, cleared the shader cache, X11 or Wayland make no difference... Im not seeing results... driver issues?
Hi, AMD graphics are usually embedded in the Linux kernel. I await someone with AMD experience to assist. Additionally, AMD graphics are supposed to run better in Wayland than xorg.
That what I thought going in? it had been running great and then i was frame capped and rendering very poorly. i update often and started having a problem right after having done so i guess idk
what kernel you are on ?
do you have dual boot ?
if yes, does fast startup is enable in Windows power settings.
If no does secure boot is enable in your bios.
6.17
no
n/a
no
so if you don't have dual boot and secure boot, you can try to install liquorix kernel
yikes that seems extreme
not so much, it's a long long tutorial, but many guys on this forum had install liquorix on 18.1 core without any problem, the short tutorial is
Add repository
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:damentz/liquorix
Update sources and install:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install linux-image-liquorix-amd64
this is the second time this has been suggested to me ( i forget now what I was trying to fix at the time) maybe this is it. thanks for your attention to my frivolity
You can also try to go back to the previous kernel. At grub menu select advanced options for Zorin and then select an older kernel to boot from and test.
To show the grub menu at boot press continuosly esc key.
Do You play with Steam? If yes: Is Steam installed as Flatpak or .deb Package? Also: What are Your Hardware Specs?
i play with the .deb version of Steam
7600X
5700XT
And do You use Proton-GE?
yes i do
Okay, then I would agree to @Nourpon to try a newer Kernel. I use the Liquorix Kernel, too. It sounds a bit intimidating to change a Kernel; I understand that. And yes, it shouldn't be done in a Hurry.
But changing to a newer Kernel can help with Issues, to because of better Hardware Support - especially because you use AMD Hardware. So, in myOpinion it should be at least worth a Try:
Thanks all, ill try it out
