DuckDuckGo browser for Linux

Amusing (and cheeky :)...

Hi
Can you build a browser for Zorin and Pop, both Ubuntu forks? Linux has renderers: WebKitGTK and QtWebEngine. The two main Linux browser defaults are Firefox and Brave, with Brave starting to edge Firefox out because of its updated privacy policy

I saw the other day that DDG can show image search without AI-generated images.

For personal stuff, duck ai is very good, no data collection

My preference is for zen browser, and eagerly await ladybird once it is available next year. I don't touch DuckDuckGo at all these days as it has built-in censorship with it's search engine which is why I use Mojeek for my default search engine which in turn offers most of the alternative search engines without having to install the browsers they might be associated with.

Yeah, hear you about that. Think they also got caught feeding MS some info, but even BitWarden has tracking around its extension and app. With DDG on your phone you can turn on App Tracking Protection which stops installed apps tracking, and lets you see which ones.

Early days yet for Zen, but a few people have mentioned it and like it

I have it on all the time

looks good!

I tried Mojeek and found the results a bit sketchy, At the moment I use a combo of Startpage and DDG depending on the browser, on Brave I use Brave search. I see you posted a screenshot of a phone screen, you do realise that you get a much more censored version of results on phones over PC/laptop?

I used Brave search for a long time, but was convinced to switch to Ecosia because of their tree planting project, after watching some of their videos on youtube:deciduous_tree::evergreen_tree:. I know they rely on other search engines to work (Bing I think?) but it doesn' really matter. By searching with Ecosia, you collect seeds that are shown on your profile, which is really fun! And they plant 6 seeds for one tree, because that's the average needed for at least 1 tree to make it and live past 3 years in the wild.

I also use Ecosia for the same reason.

Awesome!! A fellow nature lover☺️

The phone uses modified Chromium with bromite.

It would be tough having to choose between Firefox and Brave. Mozilla has it pretty tough financially. The company earns millions by setting Google as its default search engine, even if it's not used. And with the antitrust case against Google, Mozilla will lose its main revenue stream if Google is barred from paying them.
As for search engines - Startpage, Brave or DDG - hardly matters this end because most of what is needed is bookmarked and rarely need search.
On Windows, Brave is the only installed browser, the rest are portables.
