Dummy Output NVIDIA issue

New to Linux. I was using Zorin OS from USB with no problems. But I just installed Zorin Pro 16 and getting no audio. Tried updating NVIDIA drivers using Zorin updater and from NVIDIA site. Tried pulseaudio. No luck.

  • Built desktop computer in 2013 using Windows 10. Set up Zorin as dual boot off a second internal SSD. Windows 10 still works fine after Zorin installation.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 970
  • MSI Z97 motherboard
  • HDMI connection to Vizio TV

Other notes:
Sound settings says "Dummy Output" and don't show my HDMI connection to my Vizio TV (which worked fine off of USB Zorin)
Display settings also not showing the TV.

Can you please open terminal and run

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

We may need to check firmware...

I solved it by uninstalling the Zorin autoinstalled driver
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*
And then installing the top NVIDIA driver manually.
Thanks for the quick response though.
