I am presently using the windows program E-Sword on Zorin 18.1. using Bottles. I am using the very old version of E-Sword 12.2 (as recommended by the program's web site). I am relatively happy with 12.2. The thing I would REALLY love to fix, though, is that, as well as the e-sword icon the bottles icon on the dash also shows when the program is running. And if I click the e-sword icon it then tries to open another version of e-sword and then e-sword stops working!! (I have to click on the bottles icon instead to look at my previously opened program). Anyone have a fix for that (so I can just click the E-Sword icon on the dash) or do they have any other experiences/successes with e-sword (versions) they can share that I can perhaps try out? Many thanks.
I'm not sure because I don't use neither bottles nor windows apps in linux. Maybe it helps to create a desktop entry for e sword?
Install the app flatseal to manage the permissions for bottles and follow the guide to add a desktop entry (see: "Add programs to your desktop", there is a video which shows it)
If the emulators like Wine aren't able to do the job:
Native Linux app closest to E-Sword is Xiphos. If that doesn't satisfy, look at Bible Time.
