External Monitor AOC e1649Fwu USB 3.0

Hi everyone. I'm having an issue because of my portable monitor is not being recognized at all by Zorin OS. I have read on a few forums it's recommended installing some driver of DisplayLink but I did a couple of tests and the results I got are these:

❯ sudo ./displaylink-driver-5.2.14.run
Verifying archive integrity... 100% All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 5.2.14 100%

ERROR (code 3): Failed to build evdi/5.2.14. Consult /var/lib/dkms/evdi/5.2.14/build/make.log for details..

❯ sudo ./displaylink-driver-4.2.29.run
Verifying archive integrity... 100% All good.

Note: I tested two differents versions of drivers, I got same result.

This monitor model is by now old but it really works fine if I connect it winth OS Windows but I'm not so sure if for OS Zorin could have any issue for preventing to install theses drivers. Anyone of you guys have had a similiar experience? And if so, how do you fix? Thanks a lot.

Best regards, Cesar

Gday @cesar.isaac , Welcome to the community!

With the external monitor plugged in, can you please show the output here of this.

sudo lshw -C display

Also which Edition for Zorin Pro are you using ( Core or Lite) ?
Could you also tell us your machine spec's.

Is this dual boot?

Hi Ocka, thank you so much for your reply. Yes, mi laptop is dual boot with Windows10. The Zorin OS I've got is Core. Here is the neofetch report:

OS: Zorin OS 15.3 x86_64
Kernel: 5.4.0-148-generic
CPU: Intel i5-8250U (8) @ 3.400GHz
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620
Memory: 7029MiB / 7865MiB
Shell: zsh 5.4.2

Thanks again.

You seem to be very high on RAM usage?

Is there a reason your running an early kernel?

Is this a new installation or Zorin OS?
Is this dual boot?

How are you connected to the external display(HDMI to USB)?
Can you plug in the display & open the terminal,
Run this command & screenshot or copy results here for us to see please.

sudo lshw -C display

You may also try running the Updater with the display plugged in.
Open "Software Updater" click "setting"/"Additional Drivers".. check if there is a driver to suit & follow the prompts. Then run the main Updater.
Reboot & test.
Keep us informed.

Probably from all his googling for answers.

Hi there, this is what I got when I apply the command:

❯ sudo lshw -C display
*-display
descripción: VGA compatible controller
producto: UHD Graphics 620
fabricante: Intel Corporation
id físico: 2
información del bus: pci@0000:00:02.0
versión: 07
anchura: 64 bits
reloj: 33MHz
capacidades: pciexpress msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
configuración: driver=i915 latency=0
recursos: irq:125 memoria:b0000000-b0ffffff memoria:a0000000-afffffff ioport:3000(size=64) memoria:c0000-dffff

Answering your questions about RAM, yes I have the slight suspicion that maybe my display doesn't work correctly because of this.

Now, about kernel not at all. I've got this kernel after updating and upgrading my system automatically.

Finally, let me check the software updater, I haven't done yet. Keep you informed.

Thanks.
