Fan behavior under Linux suddenly ramping up

Hi — I’m thinking of installing Zorin on a MacBook Pro (Mid-2014, Intel). Previously on Linux Mint I noticed the fans got loud and often stayed on even with light use.

Has anyone run Zorin (or Ubuntu-based) on a 2014 MBP and seen reasonable fan/thermal behavior “out-of-the-box”? If yes — how smooth was it (temps, noise, idle vs load)? If no — what fan-control solution worked for you (mbpfan, macfanctld, manual etc.)?

I want a fix for it

Believe it or not, its actually quite common, to have higher fan speeds then normal, in all Linux operating systems, its been reported many times. If the current kernel can interface with your hardware better then mine does, you can use apps like CPU-X & LACT to set your fan curves, to slow down them fans.

If like me, you have no fan control in the OS, even with these APPS, the other option, is setting them in the BIOS. I have a performance gaming machine, which means, after using the secret unlock command on my MSI machine, I can set the fan curves there. <<<---Only recommended by experience users, who are knowledgeable, around the system BIOS.

When I tried to find a suitable Linux distribution for my 2012 Dell Latitude with Nvidia card, I also had the problem of overheating and constantly running fans with many of them.
What didn't work for my device were, for example, LMDE and Zorin Core and several Debian-based distributions such as MXLinux, AntiX, and Q4OS.
What worked well was Zorin Lite and Linux Mint XFCE -i.e., Ubuntu-based and XFCE desktop.
I can't promise that it will be the same on your MBP, but you could give it a try.
