Hi! I wanted to try before I buy but I am running into the following issues:
-
Fans are on continuously when in Zorin OS. They run at around 3000 RPM, which gets tiring very fast.
-
I am unable to get any sound. On output device it says 'Dummy speaker'
In both cases I tried to troubleshoot the issue using older forum posts but to no avail. This is what I looked at thusfar:
- I used Fancontrol to find out what the RPM was.
- Laptop has latest BIOS updates
- Still running Win11, I can dual boot (2 M.2 drives installed, 1 for win, 1 for Zorin. If all issues are fixed and it works good, I will ditch windows).
- Was able to create dual boot and everything but commands, github all that jazz is still next level to me.
Welcome to the Forum!
- Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS turned off?
- Is Fast Start-Up in Windows turned of?
- Did You take a Look in the System Monitor if there are any Processes visible who are running with high Ressources?
- What Graphics Card do you have? If Nvidia: What Driver is installed?
Did You tried it with a Reboot? Sometimes that can help. another Thing would be Pulse Audio Volume Control. this is a Tool to set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it with the Terminal Command sudo apt install pavucontrol
or if You prefer the Software Center, You can install it from there, too. But please take a Look at the Version and choose the ''Zorin OS APT'' Version.
Does it actually say "Dummy speaker" or "Dummy output"?
Dummy output issues are familiar, but I have never seen Dummy speaker mentioned before.
