Hey all been using zorinOS on my laptop for a bit and just getting to trying to figure out one of the very few issues I've been having for a bit. In Bazzite when I'm using dolphin and I need to slick and select multiple files I just hold down the trackpad and select multiple of them, in nautilus it doesn't let me do this, I have to click one file and hold shift and click another file below it or do the ctrl+click method. Im just wondering if there is a config somewhere I can enable click and drag? i know its not a zorin issue cause I can click and drag on the desktop all day long, just not in the file browser.
edit: this only doesn't work in "List" view, in grid it does.
Try using the Nautilus file manager
CTRL
ALT
T
to enter terminal, and run the command bellow....
sudo apt install nautilus
Enter your password and click enter.
Say Y
if asked if you want to install.
Once installed, close the terminal.
Hit the Windows/Super key, type nautilus
click FILES
This will launch Nautilus file manager. I use Nautilus and I have no problems with holding left click while dragging.
Thank you I will give that a go, I assume the default is nemo?
The default is Nautilus, which Gnome generically named "Files" as it appears in the app menu.
@StarTreker suggested using the default file manager based on this statement:
This conflicts with your statement:
I think most likely because of:
StarTreker is likely using Grid View.
Now to get down to why it does not work:
Gnomes development of Nautilus File Manager lacks the ability to perform left-click drag to highlight multiple items in List View.
This is due to there being no coded space between the list items, in which to pinpoint the cursor to isolate free space from a listed item.

@Aravisian is 100% correct, I do use Grid view. (I suspect most people do) If it doesn't work on List view, the OP might indeed require Nemo file manager?
