Fingerprint laptop not function more

Hello guys,

The fingerprint function on my laptop not function more, it is a "Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 4" with installed OS "Zorin OS 17.3 Core".
The command on terminal "fprintd-verify $USER" has this output:

Impossible to verify: GDBus.Error:net.reactivated.Fprint.Error.NoSuchDevice: No devices available

I report also this information:

Command: lsusb | grep -i synaptics
Output: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 06cb:00f9 Synaptics, Inc.

Thanks to all for the help

Has it worked before in Zorin 17.3?

Did You take a Look at the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software if there is a Driver for Your Fingerprint Device offered?

I do not have a fingerprint reader, so I have no personal experience.
I have done a couple of websearches using: "Bus 003 Device 002: ID 06cb:00f9 Synaptics, Inc. Ubuntu 22.04" as searchterm.

One hit ref Ubuntu 24.04 said fingerprint reader worked then didn't. However it came back overnight and a restart. thinkpad - Fingerprint sensor disappeared from lsusb in Ubuntu 24.04 - Ask Ubuntu

Two hits suggest use of fprintd to activate the fingerprint reader. This is one of them that includes a tutorial: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=408129

I don't know if there is a workable Synaptics driver that can be used. Maybe others with this Synaptics fingerprint scan and Lenovo hardware combination can offer better advice.

The sensor was working before in Zorin 17.
It seems strange that it suddenly became active again during the night was this link suggest: Fingerprint laptop not function more - #2 by Forpli

Instead this link is not active: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=408129

I wonder if a software update (kernel update) occurred that upset your sensor.
Try rolling back to previous kernel to test that theory.
From your startup grub menu, select "Additional Options for Zorin"
Then choose a previous kernel generic version.
Boot with that version and test.

PS.

that linux mint link I previously posted is active when I click it.

Having done some searching there is no driver in any linux kernel up to 6.12 which is why fprintd is required. Apparently it works out of the box on Ubuntu 24.04, so once Zorin 18 comes out you should be good to go.

After a reboot the finger sensor function...I don't know what happened, but thanks to all for the support.
