Flatpak list

Well I managed to finally have some time to delete some apts on my Flatpak list however it will not allow me to delete any items that have have a ... in front of it and some have this when trying to delete ...... see photos below ..... I used the command ..... flatpak uninstall " file name" ..... guess I'm stuck with what is left unless someone knows how to delete some of the others ..... I will admit I don't know what some of these items are and whether I need them or not so I left them ..... and of coarse the ones I couldn't uninstall like all the KDE and freedesktop items ....

Here is the list:

This is what I get when I try to delete some of the others ......

The next time I have an software update or do an update && upgrade will all the ones I deleted reinstall ????? .....

I followed the instructions here to remove the items .....

You probably would need to delete the packages that depend on it. For example, first remove com.github.phase1geo.minder and then try to go for org.freedesktop.Playform/x86_64/22.08.

I'm sure there's a way to force the issue, maybe try flatpak remove --force-remove <app_id> but I've never done this so use at your own risk

Let me take another look at some of this stuff as I did manage to delete some stuff but didn't go back and try to remove these other items again ..... thanks

I believe I'll just leave the force part out before I screw up big time ..... LOL

Yeah, I'm very wary of forcing computers to do something like that... you never know when it may turn out to be the other way around :robot:

Also, if you feel tempted to copy paste from my previous comment, don't. I just noticed a big typo there. It wouldn't do anything but just to give a fair warning to avoid any alarms.

Not to sure about the rest again the ones starting with ( ... ) don't appear to be recognized using ..... flatpak uninstall .....

You can try:

flatpak uninstall --unused

If you are not using any flatpak applications at all, you can just remove flatpak:

sudo apt remove flatpak

Then remove leftover files from /var/lib/flatpak

Make sure to make the terminal window full screen, that should get rid of the truncated … so you can copy the full Application ID.

I do have a couple of apps that I use including Darktable for viewing avif files ..... so I'll just keep those .....

So that is what those ( ... ) mean ..... my screen wasn't large enough to see the complete app ID ...... learn something new today ...... thank you

Here's what I have left ..... can I assume I can remove all the Gnome ones and the NVIDIA one without any repercussion ...... looks like I will just have the Darktable one left .....

Name Application ID Version Branch Installation

Yeah, I don't know why they decided that would be a good idea, instead of wrapping the text like every other CLI tool there is. It may make the output a bit prettier... but useless; such an obvious UX anti-pattern. Anyway, moving on.

Each flatpak package needs a runtime. Which one depends entirely on the package itself, and Darktable needs the org.gnome.Platform runtime, version 45.
If you are sure you won't be needing the others, go ahead and uninstall. You will be prompted to install any runtime that is needed by packages that you may install in the future.

I don't know about the Nvidia one, though.

Thank you for your advice .... I think maybe I will just keep what I have as like you said it will just install what it will need to run any apts that need them ......

I did how ever delete the ...... ( Falk Alexander Seidl org.gnome.World.Secrets 9.1 stable system ) as I found out it is a password manager which I don't want or need .....

Also the GNOME (org.gnome.NetworkDisplays 0.92.1 stable system ) as it is a "Network Displays allows you to cast your desktop to a remote display" ....... I will never need this as I'm on a laptop and never plan on using 2 display's or hook my laptop to my TV ......

Great .... you folks have been a big help ...... thank you .....

I gave you the solution in hopes that folks will read the entire thread to find the solution as there appears to be quite a few steps covered in the thread above .....

Just to clarify this, it's only flatpaks that need this runtime. Other software installed through APT won't be installing anything of the sort.

But it's "only" about 1 GB per runtime, and storage is cheap, so it may be worth to keep it around in case you want to install something later on. This can help to avoid the extra time to download this again. On a slow connection, it really adds up.
