Will there be swap space option and ZRam officially??? When i try to edit videos on kdenlive system collaps. So it would be great to have swap space and ZRam offically. Any ideas or news?

Swap space is only needed if you have an HDD or you have an SSD with low amount of RAM which is not likely in today's hardware scene.

I don't have any issues with KDEnlive on my PCLOS Debian installation of Plasma 5.27, based on Debian bookworm. My swap area is 7.4 Gb (I have 16 Gb RAM installed.

Just created a video using SimpleScreenRecorder, then edited in KDEnlive and then rendered, and finally uploaded to Vimeo.com. No issues.

I cant have a smooth rendering experience on Kdenlive. I have a Ryzen 5 cpu and RX 580 8 gb gpu. And rendering a 10 minutes video becomes torture. Zorin OS starts to warn me for low memory. And end of it system collaps.

What program do you use for streaming? I find SimpleScreenRecorder works best.
I have a Ryzen 7 1700X processor and a GT-1030 with 2 Gb RAM. I use X11 (xorg) on Plasma 5.27.

I used Brave A.I. search on which uses more resources, Gnome 46 or Plasma 5.27.

" Based on the provided search context, GNOME generally consumes more RAM and CPU resources than KDE Plasma, although specific benchmark results can vary by hardware and configuration.

  • RAM Usage : A 2023 comparison noted that KDE Plasma (on KDE neon) used approximately 1.6 GB of RAM at idle, while GNOME (on Ubuntu or Fedora) used around 2.1 GB .

  • Performance & Stability : GNOME is often described as more resource-intensive but polished for modern hardware, whereas KDE Plasma is considered more lightweight and efficient, though it may have a slower initial boot time.

  • Version Specifics : The provided text does not contain specific benchmarks for GNOME 46 versus Plasma 5.27 . However, general comparisons between recent versions (such as GNOME 46 vs. Plasma 6) and historical data (GNOME vs. Plasma 5) consistently indicate that KDE Plasma tends to be more resource-optimized than GNOME.

I should also point out that PCLOS Debian use the Liquorix kernel so boot times are faster than a mainstream kernel and have not been prone to the recent kernel security issues. It doesn't have systemd either.
