Frozen apps visual bug

Hello, i just installed zorin os 17 on my laptop and i'm having some problems with "freezing" visual bugs. Let me explain: everytime i open a new aplication, it does not appear for me, as if the pc had frozen. BUT it's not actually frozen, 'cause i can use other apps already open and if i just switch to another desktop/work space and come back to the first one then, the "frozen" app actually is there running almost normally. And i say "almost", 'cause taking some actions causes the app to visual freeze again, and i have to switch again and again and again by just using my laptop. Like, if i close the app by clicking the "X" or even by clicking "sair" ("quit"?) in the app icon options, the app are closed, but it keeps showing up for me, then i have to make the switch again for the app window to disappear.

I'm brazilian and linux bigginer, so forgive me if i made a mistake in writing english or if my problem is just a stupid problem. Thanks.

I'm wondering if you're running Wayland. If you check system settings -> about, if under "Windowing System" it says Wayland, we're going to want to change that to check if that's the issue.

So logout, then when you go to login and input your password, at the bottom right there should be a cog icon, if you click it you should then be able to select Xorg as an option. Click that then login as usual. Then see if the issue still persists or not.

It persists :frowning:

If you run a

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Does anything report any errors or anything ? And if there's a bunch of updates to run, I would recommend running them anyway and then rebooting and see if that might be a simple reason for this issue as well.

No one update to run, i migrated to zorin yesterday and everything is up to date.

This issue actually started with zorin appearance and then it has spread to every app... but i already reverted the configs to default and it persists.

Does this only happen to a specific Program? Or to a specific Type of Program (.deb or Snap or Flatpak)?

When it behaves like it do, did You checked the System Monitor if there are any high Activities or Processes?

And how is Your Resolution, Refresh Rate set up? Is Fractional Scaling active?

It happens to every type of program, nothing outside of normal in system monitor, screen settings are default for my display (FHD x 60Hz), and fractional scaling is off (and no change if i turn on).

I just reinstalled zorin os and the same thing is happening again like 5 minutes after boot (i couldnā€™t even install my apps at this time).

I still need to be always switching workstations to ā€œdefrostā€ apps, ā€˜till they visually freeze again after i do something (even just try to close them) and the history repeats itself.

If you go into Settings and then About, what does it say under "Graphics"?

There is my laptopā€™s integrated graphics card name: Intel Iris Xe Graphics (TGL GT2)

Which Program did You used to create the bootable USB Stick?
Did You checked the Checksum of the ISO?
Are You having a Dual-Boot System?
Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in the BIOS turned off?
Is Your BIOS in Legacy Mode or UEFI?
Could You tell us Your Hardware Specs?

I used Rufus for the bootable usb stick.

I used a legitimate version of Zorin Os and iā€™m really sure that the zoring booting did the automatic filesystem integrity check.

Iā€™m not having a dual boot system.

Security boot and fast boot are on.

UEFI.

itā€™s a samsung NP550XDA

8gb ram 2666MHz
256gb SSD NVMe M.2
Intel core i5-1135g7
Iris Xe Graphics (80EUs version)

Okay, thank you. Then I would make some Suggestions:

Turn Secure Boot and Fast Boot off.
Because You are using Rufus and You have a UEFI BIOS: Check that on the Partiton Sheme GPT is chosen:

Yes, but it would be good to check the Checksum of the ISO. Here are Instructions for that:

I noticed you said in another reply that SecureBoot is on. Try turning it off.
