New to Linux. Surface Pro 4 working great except for touchscreen on Zorin 17.3 Pro. What is the easiest way to get it working?
Thanks!
After installing Zorin OS, did you install the Surface Kernel?
no, i did not. i will do that now. thanks!
As a Linux newbie I had no idea what the GitHub screen was telling me. I read the instructions but it could have been written in Swahili as I understood nothing. So, I relied on Perplexity AI, asking how a dumb person such as myself could easily get the touchscreen on my surface pro 4 working with Zorin OS. It gave me several steps, and I figured out how to copy and paste the gibberish into the terminal window and now my touchscreen works great! As does the touch pad, the mouse.
As a bonus, this old Surface Pro 4 from 2016 had a screeching fan noise, loud and ugly enough to wake the dead. It too is gone now. I am a happy camper.
Thanks for your support and getting me on the right path.
To perhaps save the next person resorting to AI, instructions for installing the Surface kernel are actually available on Zorin's own site:
Much clearer directions!
