Getting error when logging back in

Hello!

Everytime I log out, and I want to log back in - it gives me an error and kicks me back to the login menu. The only way to log in again is by restarting the computer and then I can login again.

Anyone got this problem? Anyone know a fix?

Edit: When I do restart and log back in, the zorin appearence is also reset and I can just go to settings and put it back to what I want.

What IS the error you get? It's difficult for anyone to tell what's wrong without that information.

That sounds a bit like the login loop. When I covered the three methods to resolve this in the Unofficial Manual for Zorin 15, Zorin did not have Wayland so would need to know if you regularly use Zorin Desktop (Wayland default), or Zorin Desktop on xorg.

It just says Login error and kicks me back out to the login screen if I click OK.

No idea how to find this out, I just installed Zorin with Nvidia drivers.

In Zorin 17 it is the last point at settings >about >windowing system
In Zorin 18
settings>system>about>system details>windowing system

It says X11 there

If using X11 take a look at the Unofficial Manual I wrote for Zorin 17. There is a whole section dealing with the login loop.

Hello. Disabling wayland from the login screen worked

  1. sudo nano /etc/gdm/custom.conf
  2. Then removing the hashtag from: "#WaylandEnable=false"
  3. Then restarting the computer.
