Getting hardware acceleration to work in Jellyfin with B580

Hi. Im new to Linux and i am trying to get hardware acceleration to work on my b580 in Jellyfin. Tried both QSV and Vaapi. It streams fine without hardware acceleration. I read about Mesa drivers is that the answer? Dont want to do something stupid  Thanks!

Hello,

Which video card do you have?
Which package format did you install Jellyfin? (.deb/flatpak/snaps)

Welcome to the Forum!

I guess You mean the Intel Arc B580, yes?

Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Terminal Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

When it shows You Wayland, You could try it with switching to X11/Xorg. To do that, go to the Login Screen. Click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the ''Zorin Deskop on Xorg'' Option and then log in.

Thanks alot! Yes its the Arc B580. Happy to be here! It was Wayland by deafault it seems. I switched to Xorg but it did not solve it unfortunately.

I opened the programs "store" and installed it from there so i guess it is flatpak then right? Thanks for your help in my Linux quest

If possible try go to store and see if a .deb package is available.

If not, you need to install flatseal to setup Jellyfin to use GPU. Flatpaks and snap runs in sandbox.

You can also try the .deb file for noble:

jellyfin-media-player_1.12.0-noble.deb

In the software store I found no .deb (Zorin apt) package.

I installed flatseal and when i selected Jellyfin it already showed Hardware acceleration as being toggled ON. Is there anything else that needs to be toggled on. I really appreciate all the help.

Give the output of this command:

sudo apt install inxi
inxi -Ga
