Getting sound to work

Hello, I am very new to linux.But this is the second linux system I've installed, and I can't get my sound card to work. I've tried everything all the command prompts.Now let's interest because of an eye bring up alsamixer it shows my card as a intel were the setting show it as a Nvidia card so in the alsamixer i tried to set it up as nivida s/pdif i cant get it to change the volume settings how do i change them they are all at zero ive tried cursing up it didn't work ive tried typing it in that didnt work i need help thanks

Can you Post a screenshot of your alsamixer with "All" channels [F5] set.
Also give details of your soundcard/s listed by [F6].

Can you open a Terminal and copy and paste the following command by using the clipboard icon to the right of tholis command?:

lspci -v | grep -i audio

and post back the results please.

(Just to add Zorin 18 tends to identify S/PDIF even though it is not in use (had the same issue in 17) as I have a SoundBlaster Audigy Rx card.

You could try it with Pulse Audio Volume control. It is a Tool for set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it with the Command sudo apt install pavucontrol

When installed, open it and take a Look at the Output Tab and the Configuration Tab.
