I have my Google account added in the settings, but Tasks is not an option to sync over. I got my whole calendar in, but not the tasks. Google integrates the tasks into the calendar, so I thought they would sync over as well. Anyone know of a way?
Zorin 18 is a fork of Ubuntu 24.04 which is what I used in my search criteria:
"To integrate Google Tasks with Google Calendar on Ubuntu 24.04 , the most reliable and native method uses GNOME Online Accounts for seamless synchronization.
GNOME Online Accounts (Recommended)
This is the built-in, official way to sync Google services, including Calendar and Tasks , with Ubuntu 24.04’s default apps.
- Open Settings .
- Go to Online Accounts .
- Click Add Account and select Google .
- Enter your Google email and password.
- After authentication, you’ll be prompted to allow access. Click Allow .
- In the list of services, enable both Calendar and Tasks .
- Close the window.
Once enabled:
-
Your Google Calendar events will appear in the GNOME Calendar app and the top panel calendar .
-
Your Google Tasks will sync automatically with the To Do app (part of GNOME’s default suite).
Note : This method works best with GNOME Shell (default on Ubuntu 24.04). The To Do app will show tasks linked to your Google Calendar, and tasks can be created or managed directly in the To Do app.
Alternative: Use Thunderbird with Lightning (For Advanced Users)
If you prefer a full-featured desktop client:
- Install Thunderbird and the Lightning add-on.
- Install the Provider for Google Calendar add-on.
- Sign in with your Google account.
- Add a Google Calendar account via Lightning.
- Tasks from Google Calendar will appear under the Tasks section in Thunderbird.
This method requires extra setup and is not as integrated with the desktop as GNOME Online Accounts.
Why Other Methods Are Not Recommended
-
Evolution (older method): No longer reliably supports Google Tasks on modern Ubuntu versions.
-
Conky or third-party scripts : Not stable or secure for task synchronization.
-
Manual sync via web : Not automated and defeats the purpose of integration.
Summary
For Ubuntu 24.04 , use GNOME Online Accounts to sync Google Tasks and Calendar with the native To Do and Calendar apps.

right, but that didn't work. I already said I added my Google account to the Online accounts and Tasks was not an option...also, there is no default Gnome todo
