I don't know ??? I'll wait until you answer before rebooting

Launch Software & Updates app from the App Menu.
On the first tab that opens in the Pop Up Window, you will see Download From: with a drop down menu. Ensure that is set to Main Server, not to a regional or local server.

You will hate me... but please re-run the reinstall command now that you are on Main Server.
I speak truth when I say that even though regional servers are supposed to host all of and exactly what is in the Main server - they often enough Do Not.
I have seen far too many cases of it. Earlier your terminal showed that Cinnamon was fully installed... Yet yesterday we clearly saw that something was wrong.
Please redo the reinstall command:

sudo apt install --reinstall cinnamon cinnamon-core cinnamon-desktop-environment

Then... log out and into Cinnamon to test...

Even I gotta admit I am currently running on my countries server. But even I know, that the first sign of trouble that I go through in regarding to installing software or updating, I am going to switch to the Main Server. Cause even I know that can fix like what 50% of problems right there.

Why oh why would I hate you ... you are busting your buns to help me ... not a problem .... here is the results .... going to restart ...

Let's hope...

Unless I am mistaken, I once again saw no errors here. I did see what looks like 3 successful reinstalls. :slightly_smiling_face:

Nope there is no joy in Mudville ... same thing ... by the way you can click on all the desktop icons even the weather one and they do open ... but to the left hand side of the screen and to close any of them you have to go to file/exit in the menu

Can you use the terminal to launch gnome-screenshotand take a screenshot of what you are seeing?

I'll try ....

OK here is all I could get because anytime you load anything it jumps to the upper left hand corner covering what ever is there ... no way that I have found to move or resize the screen ...

Desktop

Computer Folder selected

Another shot of Computer folder but you can't see the file manager tree view as it is covered up by the terminal

Wow. There is no metacity in use.

I have not seen it... But I think this is Fallback Mode
You may try logging into Zorin Desktop, then

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

adding noacpi and nomodeset to the grub parameters:
Change:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash noacpi nomodeset"

You might screenshot this to double check...
Then hit ctrl+x to exit, then the y key to say yes to save, then the enter key to save as current configuration.

OK but I think I will split my screen so I can keep the ability to copy and paste plus reread everything ...

OK here is a screen shot but ctrl+x just made the screen jump and there was nothing to y did nothing and enter just did what you see ... ????

Terminal is still open waiting you instructions ....

Backspace three times to remove the Line drop and the y and the x
This looks like when you hit ctrl+x, the control button did not fully depress. So an x was typed.
Then you hit y as per the instructions.

But hit ctrl+x to exit and you will see a Prompt appear at the bottom of the terminal asking "Do you want to save the current configuration? y/n" and it is then that you can hit the y key.

Sorry about the delay.
