When you're typing in the search, it's bringing up the game in the software centre, not actually anything installed to the system. Possibly dumb question, but have you clicked the "Install" button? Does it bring up any errors when you're trying to install it? And if it does install, can you click the button again to open the program after you've done so?
I've purged Snap from my systems when I install them, so I unfortunately can't help much more than that at current time.
hi, I believed you did not watch the video link shared on previous post under "HERE". Please check before you commenting "dumb" question, is very rude.
A word to the wise: When asking for help, do not bite the hand that feeds you.
To belittle those that take much of their time helping others will encourage members to offer no assistance in your threads if it will only invite abuse upon them from you.
I appreciated much for the feedback from the moderators in Zorin OS forum, and for every forum in the internet entered, I post questions very carefully because sometime text message like "dumb question" can lead to wrong impression.
As you can see the post, I already documented the neccessary information in the post, simply putting a word "dumb question" without reading my posted video link carefully is not wise either right ?
Personally, I am new user to Zorin OS, looking forward for any feedback and to contribute my solutions found to this forum as well.
For better description, below is the link about the lauching process of Galaxian game:
For a member asking for help, they often have the perspective of their attention being only on that thread, awaiting answers and assistance.
A helper on the forum has a different experience. We go over a large volume of threads, many help requests and must move quickly, trying to reach all people in need of help.
And this can mean missing seeing something. In fairness, I also did not notice your "HERE" link that documented a video. Moving too fast and it is small. Nothing within the body of the post mentioned confirmation that Galaxian had fully installed.
Given that different perspective, you can see how a helper, rushed and scrambling to meet the needs of many, need to be provided with accurate, clear and accessible information at a glance.
I applaud you having posted the video and you are right to believe that it could have been sufficient.
But affording polite benefit to the doubt to the rushed helpers is preferable to jumping right to frustration and accusation.
Certainly, the issue you want resolved is all the frustration you or we need.
I hope this helps and that we all remember that civil discourse gets better results.
If it shows as installed, and you see how it is named, will it launch using that name? For example, if it is named "galaxian" (simply)
snap run galaxian
The above is an example, use the exact name that was provided from the snap list command.
(It may be prefixed: snap run galaxian.galaxian)
The next question is: Does the software store offer a different format than Snap? Like Zorin (APT) or Flatpak. In case the Snap package is simply... broken.
hi Aravisian, I have tried the suggestion, but still unable to run the game successfully either in Desktop or Desktop on Xorg mode. I documented the error messages under the gist link below, and emailed to the game author regarding this problem as well.
Fascinating... Your output shows that this game is to be run using WINE.
As a snap package? That is... surprising. To say the least.
Wine is a compatibility layer that can allow Some Microsoft Windows software to run on GnuLinux.
But this is heavily dependent on having all the correct libraries, in this case, .dll files.
I believe that source comes zipped. Be sure to decompress it.
There is a similar game, Nasos, in github that runs natively on Linux... I do not know if it is truly like Galaxian or not... it is listed as a Galaxian clone:
On a side note I have always avoided snap as the coordinator of our local Linux User Group advised years ago that snap is as secure as telnet or finger.
