Headphone jack microphone playing back own system audio

My input device (shown as Microphone - Built in Audio) is working as expected except for the fact that it captures and plays back the audio that the OS is sending to output. It's not playing as background noise, it is detecting the output audio and playing it back as a whole.
The microphone I'm using is a 3.5mm jack that connects both earphones and the microphone.
It's working as intended on windows 10
I've tried muting most of the things, yet the issue remains
Here is my alsamixer:

Anyone's got a clue what it could be?
Thanks

Have you tried playing around with Auto-Mute settings on alsamixer?

What does Zorin>Settings>Sound show you?

Yea, disabling or enabling auto mute gives me the same behavior
Here's the sound menu:

Output>Output Device.
What options listed in the dropdown.

Is this a notebook or a desktop? Make and model plus details of microphone hardware. From a terminal enter:

sudo lshw -C audio

and post back the results.

In the dropdown I only have:
Headphones - Built-in audio
If I unplug the headphones I get:
Speakers - Built-in audio

It's a HP notebook, pavilion 15 dk0014np
Just note that I get no issues on windows 10

Entering sudo lshw -C audio on a terminal only gives me PCI (sysfs) for a split second, then overwrites with USB, and then clears all output. It's not finding anything?

In alsamixer, hit F6
Any other sound cards listed?

So that is a 3.5mm wired microphone/earphones combo as used on mobile phones.

Do you have Pulse Audio Volume Control (pavucontrol) installed?

What does that show when mic/headphone plugged in?

If I press F6 I have an nvidia related sound card:

But muting/unmuting these 4 channels also have no effect on this issue

Here's my pulse audio interface:

I've tried most of the combinations in these windows but nothing seems to fix the problem
