Just been backing up my eldest's PC which has Windows 11 on it. No other OS.
Method of backup? Rescuezilla - this is based on ubuntu. Now, consider this; if you installed the August Update on Windows you won't be able to restore any image you created using Rescuezilla as the August Update installed an update to SBAT (Secure Boot) which will prevent any GNU/Linux from booting! So if you have inadvertently installed the update, remove it, unless the Windows installation is used in a Work Environment.

On Zorin came already an Update to solve that. Sounds a bit stupid to say that Ubuntu brings an Update for repairing Microsoft Stuff, hahaha! It was an Update for a Package called shim-signed. So, it should work again - hopefully.
Yes, but has that happened with Rescuezilla? Having just checked it does not appear to have any shim for it. Rescuezilla for backup is based on ubuntu 22.04.
So, if you have backed up your machine completely with Rescuezilla and you want to restore an image of Windows or Zorin it ain't going to happen.
But this is a Thing for the Developer of Rescuezilla.

You could also argue that it is also whether Canonical will supply the shim. 
In the End, it's just a Mess.

WOW ..... so all the back-ups I did with Rescuezilla on both Zorin 17.2 and Mint Wilma are worthless ..... I haven't needed to do a restore yet so I haven't tried it .....
Please keep us informed if you find out when Rescuezilla will be fixed ..... not worried about Windows as I no longer have it dual booted ....

Hi Frog, If it is just Linux backups it won't be an issue and any Windows images backed up before the August 2024 update won't be relevant.
