Hello again Zorin Os

Hi everyone. I switched from Windows 10 to Linux thanks to Microsoft's decision making my PC pratically useless after October 2025. I'm in an insane distro hopping mood and i come from Linux Mint LMDE. So i'm trying again Zorin Os Core. I must say that on my PC Linux Mint is a bit more reactive that Zorin. But Zorin is so good on appearance and solved some little problems with drivers.
I think that this time i will keep Zorin for a long time also because i like this forum. By the way i use PC for Youtube and retrogaming. Bye for now.

If responsiveness is a thing for you, try installing Preload. It's a daemon that sits in the background, and monitors how you use your computer. It gives priority to programs you launch most often, and enables your computer to launch them faster. Just go to the terminal in Zorin OS and type in "sudo apt install preload." It will not show up as an app after; don't worry about it. It's in your system and will do its work silently. Good username, by the way. Fatal Fury was a good game.

I decided to do the same as the only reason I was holding on to Windows was MSOffice and as LibreOffice works well enough for my basic needs, I decided to pull the plug on Microsoft.

Although I like the desktop of Mint's Cinnamon and its appearance, I had trouble getting it to recognize my HDMI monitor correctly and sound just wouldn't work at all. I was impressed that Zorin detected my monitor correctly and installed the correct drivers and I was really surprised that other distros that have been around for a while couldn't seem to get it right. I tried Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, Fedora and only Zorin seems able to detect my hardware properly. In time I will upgrade to Pro as I think this is a project worth supporting.

I was thinking the same thing about upgrading to Pro version, mainly to support developers

Wanted to circle back here and see how Preload is doing for you.

Did you ever install it? If you did, does it seem to help your system?

Hi and welcome,
I would certainly give FreeOffice a try - it is the free version of SoftMaker Office, as it is more compatible with MS Office products if you need to share documents with others still using MS Office. I have LibreOffice present, but I mainly use the Pro version of SoftMaker Office as my job when I was working was to modify documents for students with low vision. None of the LibreOffice Writer files showed up correctly when submitted to my work base during lockdown, but SoftMaker's Text Maker 2018/2021 always dis (I am now on 2024 Pro).

[My current distros of choice, in order, are PCLOS Debian KDE Plasma and Q4OS Plasma.]

Yes, mouse became faster after that command and i'm not joking, i saw the difference immediately. I must say that for some things i miss Linux Mint however i have decided that the OS of my main machine is and will be Zorin Os Core.
