Hello ZorinOS forum 👋 The names Rob, New here

Just installed a few hours ago, im actually coming from a few years of Arch Linux, and Fedora use. Im loving it so far. I actually had used it briefly a few months ago, but for some stupid reason felt weird using a "beginner distro" seeing as how ive been using linux for a min now. Honestly don't care though, its amazing not to have to worry about so much maintenance, i love the customization its simple and easy to do, not worrying about breakages etc. it just works. Hopefully im here to stay! Having a blast so far.

Hello, welcome to Zorin OS!

Definitely having fewer things to care about in terms of maintenance is nothing to be shame of! I've tried a few Arch-based distributions but I found it annoying to have to worry about these little details so often.

Welcome to the Forum!

Have fun with the OS.

Hello Bob, welcome to Zorin OS! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

One thing I noticed about the Arch community, was a total lack of respect for Zorin OS, due to that beginner distro mentality you spoke of. I get it, Arch users love to tweak, and adjust every little thing manually, including the entire OS. Plus, they lock their forum down like Fort Knox, forcing someone to have an IQ of 200 to get in.

There is something to be said though, about an OS that is easy to install, requires little from the user, and it just works. Afterall, isn't the whole point of an OS, to allow a person to operate a computer, but stay out of the way? Zorin OS is not just for beginners, its for everyone to enjoy.

I'll tell you something else, I like being able to wake up in the morning, and be able to operate my computer half asleep, where I don't have to think about it. I don't have to do a bunch of manual operations, I don't have to code C++, I don't have to use the terminal for most operations. Zorin OS just works.

Zorin OS, provides me the ability to use my computer for everything I need to do, and it stays out of the way, to let me do it. Because Zorin OS is an LTS distro, its also stable as well. I don't have to worry about my distro black screening, or upgrading to an new OS version without my permission. (Thats what POP OS does BTW, so annoying)

I hope that you will find a friendlier atmosphere here, none of us are know it all's, and we care about other's. If one person doesn't know the answer, another member steps up with the solution, as we are a team effort here. I hope you continue to love Zorin OS as much as I do.

To me... you cannot operate it and have it stay out of the way at the same time...

Windows 11 doesn't stay out of the way, you know what I mean.

100% friendly here. A lot of people on the arch forums wake up with cup of coffee in the morning looking to get mad any type of question. , i absolutely feel what you feel, its amazing not having to worry about configuring all the time, and just having something that "just works".
