Helping a fumbling newbie

Hello.
I've recently switched to Zorin OS and have been fumbling around trying to get to know things here and there.
I started getting Failed To Download Repository Information error on the Software Updater. I Googled a few enquiries about why and what this could be and after trying a few things and running sudo apt update I got this message:
E: The repository 'Index of linux/debian/ noble Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

I went into the Softwarer Updater and under the tab Other Software I unclicked the 'docker' line, closed and refreshed. After this all was fine.
The question I have is, do I need this Docker thing and will disabling it from the software updater cause issues for me?

Thanking you all in advance.

If you want to use docker from the docker repository you need the repository - but the right one.
I link you an installation guide of docker how to add the repository:

You need to follow the guide for ubuntu, not for debian.
At the moment you fetch the docker software from

and you need

Remove the installed repository and repeat the steps with the ubuntu repository as shown in the links above.

I am confused as to how docker got there in the first place.

I agree with Swarf.
@samjag . Do we understand that you have not on-purpose added Docker yourself?
Maybe something else you did added it?

I think @Forpli assumes you have added it yourself, but have taken the debian rather than the ubuntu installation. But if Docker was added by accident and you have no reason to have it, then suggest leave it out, if not affecting anything working.

Thank you guys for your attention and your advice. Like I said, I'm a fumbling newbie and I'm pretty sure I accidentally added it incorrectly, and truth be told I'm not exactly sure why.
I'm loving getting to know my way around Linux. My next task is to better understand the different repositories and how they relate to the different distro's.
I'm truly grateful for lovely people such as yourselves who take the time to help newcomers. You make it a safer, less daunting place.
Thank you.

I'll follow the instructions that @Forpli listed above.

Cheers. :slightly_smiling_face:
