Hibernate killed my laptop?

Hi. I have a laptop that I installed Zorin 16 on and upgraded to 17 and I think the hibernate broke it as it will no longer even post. I don't truly know and can't find a way to fix it so please help. Here's what happened:

  • Was playing Battle Brothers through Proton on Steam
  • Tried to Alt + F4 the game
  • Closed the lid (with hibernate enabled) while it was frozen closing
  • Reopened lid to login screen but Laptop died (power light was flashing 1 sec on/off)
  • Tried troubleshooting steps
  • Power light is now solid, but laptop will not turn on

I got to the reflashing step, but couldn't even manage to do that. f anyone knows what I can do please help!

Thanks for your time.

There's a lot of stuff here so I'm going to ask some questions to get everyone some clarity on this;

Are you saying that you are unable to even get to your BIOS in your system? That should not be the case, you should be able to get there, regardless of how broken or not broken a linux install goes.

Do you mean that the system was "frozen" as in it was hibernating? Or frozen as in unresponsive and unable to be used?

Does this mean you were able to get to the login screen, or were hoping to and never got there because of a dead battery?

Gonna need some more information on this bit. What troubleshooting steps specifically have you taken / tried at this point?

Reflashing step, as in reinstalling the OS from scratch? Creating a new bootable usb in the computer that's not functioning? A little confused here. If you're able to boot into a live environment and install, that means for sure your system is posting at least.
