How allocate of unallocated space to the Zorin OS partition

Hi,
I have installed Zorin 17.3 as a dual boot alongside Windows 10. And now see that the partition is too small for Zorin OS. I have shared an additional 12 GB from the Windows partition as unallocated in Windows Disk Management.

What is the recommended procedure to allocate the 12 GB of unallocated space to the Zorin OS partition?

Thank you
suiix

Can you please take a screenshot of your partitions with gparted and post it here? Then we can see where the unallocated disk space is.

15,78 GB is the Zorin OS Partition

From what I can see in your picture, what you're doing would make sense. You have to enlarge the partition, and shuffle it to the left. What I would recommend however, is doing so from a Live USB / a method where you're not in the partition in question while doing the move to the left.

Expansion to the right is generally very easy, so if you've already moved Zorin's partition to the left and the second screenshot is after you've done that, and you're just making it larger, then I would say it's ok to go ahead.

Backup everything before messing with partitions!
You know it makes sense and we don't want to see any of this :sob:

Yes, that looks good for me. Move the Zorin Partition to the left so that the free Space is right of it. And then expand it to increase the Size of the Zorin Partition.

But like @applecheeks37 already wrote: It would be a good Idea to do that Process with Zorin in ''Try Zorin'' Mode from a USB Stick. And like @zabadabadoo already wrote: Save Your Data before doing this. If something should be go wrong, You have at least Your Data.

GOOD advice, this! I've been bitten by the bug of haste and assuming all would be well in the past, when it wasn't. Thank GOD I had a backup of my important stuff.

Use Gparted on a LIVE USB stick.

OK, it worked for me. Windows and Zorin OS are bootable without any problems after repartitioning.
