you could try the fingerprint GUI
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fingerprint/fingerprint-gui
sudo apt update
sudo apt install fingerprint-gui
also make sure the fingerprint firmware is up to date , you can check the Lenovo website for any updates for your device. Firmware updates can improve compatibility.
if you run
lsusb
or
sudo lshw -C biometrics
can you see your fingerprint device listed ? something like "Synaptics" or "Validity )
for the first part this is the output, also, checked lenovo website, last fingerprint sensor update was on 2023 and in that time I'm pretty much sure that I've installed that synaptic driver update. Then used to use win10/11.
it seems that device is not supported in linux

Also confirmed here as not working;
If you want to have a fingerprint reader the only option for your notebook would be to purchase this item:

I found a probable workaround but it probably factory resets the device, so it isn't worth the hassle for me. although it id pretty old, what do you people think about this.
Is this the downgrade kernel solution? Not a good idea for security reasons.
