How do make magic keyboard lock button (top right) active?

I'm using Magic Keyboard version 2022 and connected it to Zorin OS. All the function keys (brightness, microphone on/off, volume up/down, pause/start), etc., work, except for the lock key. I'm trying to assign a keyboard shortcut from the lock menu, but that doesn't work either. Do I need to assign a custom keyboard shortcut? Thanks.

Hi and welcome!

I could not find anything on my searches, but earlier versions of your keyboard did have Function key issues if using bluetooth, the only workaround being the use of connecting it directly with a USB cable, so for now that is all I can suggest.

With all good wishes for 2026.

Thank you for your research. I connected via Type C exactly as you described, but the result is the same. This is a problem I'm experiencing with Zorin; it has never happened before with other Linux distributions.

When I press the keyboard shortcut, the command "Screensaver" appears. I am using Wayland by the way. X11 is the same.

Try different methods. HWDB, keyd etc but none of them worked.

Sorry to hear. If it is a requirement I would use another distro or look at installing a higher kernel. Would be interesting to know what other distros you have tried together with kernel version. I see you are using Pro. I would raise a ticket with Team Zorin and see if they can assist:

Actually there is no requirement because Super + L button already works so no need that button. It is just an extra function. I already using 6.18.2 xanmod kernel so this is related to maybe GNOME I believe because Zorin os uses 46 version. Thank you for your reply.
