I haven't found it anywhere obvious so I presume I need to install something. What are some good packages to install for that?
I have not used plotly. Popsicle or unetbootin are my go to for Linux usb actions. You may want to try one of these. I'm not sure if there is a member that has used plotly or be willing to try it.
I cannot find any information on a Plotly etcher...
No reason why you can't use GParted to format a USB (which gets removed after Core has been installed). Just install GParted and select the correct drive. Alternatively, just use Disks.
