How to copy several lines of terminal output (beginner level)

Hi. Sorry to be back again. I'm trying to copy a few lines from the terminal for, I think, top output .

So far, I've learned to stop top with something like q
and that copy is Ctrl+Shift+c.

My third problem is how to I select a few lines and keep them selected while i go off to select CtrlShiftc?

Edit. Discovered I have to stop the terminal then can copy the lines.
Still haven't got Ctrl+Shift+c to copy - used right tab on laptop, followed by Copy. Is there some trick to the Copy command?

I am not at the computer at the moment. Does it work when you use the rightclick of your mouse > copy
to copy something?

It's a laptop - right click + copy works
