Hi, I have asked your post to be moved to a new thread of it's own as it detracts from the issue facing @Eymistaken .
The first point to make is that ideally you should have a separate partition for 'root' file system ('/'), and another one for /home. So the best installation method for any distribution is to use the something else method.
I have started using a tool to convert Gb to MiB when it comes to partition sizes. I convert 80 Gb to MiB for '/'. If you have a fast SSD there is no need for a 'swap' area or file, so anything to the right of '/' can be used for '/home'.
/home is where I store my snapshots. I choose daily and reduce the frequency from 5 to 3. I exclude '/home' completely because if you do include it, anything you have created, or a document you have been working on will be lost/work carried out on document like additional editing will get lost forever.
If you are wanting to create a snapshot before boot time, then I recommend you keep a distribution that has Timeshift included in its .iso on a Ventoy thumbdrive, such as Linux Mint. Better still, create a snapshot before undertaking any notification of system updates is implemented, which is effectively what you are seeking the answer for.
Should something go wrong and you can't boot to a working system, provided the GRUB menu is visible, choose Advanced options for Zorin, then choose recovery mode.
On the menu that appears, drop to a root shell prompt and enter:
timeshift --restore
Then press the return key and you should be presented with the three most current snapshots available.
Each snapshot has a sequential number. Choose the number against the snapshot you wish to restore the system to.
I have covered this in the Unofficial Manual for Zorin 18 Core:
