Have two Windows computers on a standard internet hub and both see each other and can share folders but cannot see the Zorin computer at all. Tried installing something called samba and shared the folders but cannot be seen
at all on the network. Is there an idiots guide as to how to do this? Thanks
How are you currently viewing your windows PCs on the same network, using what program / protocol? And on the Zorin system, do you have the firewall enabled? That would stop a lot of things from functioning correctly such as this.
You need to make sure that the Zorin machine is in the same Workgroup as the Windows machines:
The obvious choice is to use the Public folder in Zorin. Just right-click it and on one of the tabs, allow sharing.
Thanks fo the reply. If I want to see the Windows PCs I am on one of them and just click on the Windows network link and it shows the other computer which I can then access. (One is upstairs and one downstairs) I was hoping to replace the downstairs one with the new Zorin one but cannot get to see it or access it. Not looked at the firewall but I will now.
Thanks for the repy. I will have a look at your link and suggestion.
