The volunteers could take such restrictive atmosphere only for a short while.
Human relationship is a give and take.
If volunteers are only asked for giving and get nothing in return, they would eventually leave the forum just like a receding tide.

Any new tips for Zorin 17.2?
I am coming from Windows 10 Pro and booting time for Zorin is much longer then for Win. Which is surprising as I thought Linux is a more "efficient" OS? Booting takes some minutes...
Fast boot is enabled in BIOS I saw, no idea if that is relevant for Zorin though. I am an just amateur user ![]()
It's more likely that Windows is "cheating" in the sense of hibernating instead of shutting down. On a cold hard booting on Windows will be slower than if you turn off Windows (it goes into hibernating) or rebooting.
What's your system specs?
Its an i5 quadcore x 2,5 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD (Lenovo X230)
I meant to compare initial boot/startup times as I didnt manage to enable hibernation mode in Zorin unfortunately...
Type this in the terminal and post outcome of it.
systemd-analyze blame
Hmm, what would actually be the best way to insert this in a forum post? anyway, heres a screenshot of the result:
There are handy services for sharing plain text which are great for exactly this type of thing:
Note that efficient can be defined in a broad variety of ways. Likewise, what you measure (and how) is crucial to make this comparison.
When it comes to start up times, you can also make I distinction between the time it takes to bring up the desktop and the time that the computer is ready to get to work. I made this distinction specifically because it's something that I've experienced myself before:
Generally speaking, I would say that Linux is definitely more efficient overall. However, as with most things, there are different factors to consider, like the condition of the hardware, amount of programs that run automatically on start, etc.
That said, as I mentioned on that thread I link, Zorin OS in particular is much slower to boot up than most other distributions that I've tried.
Thank you. So I will live fine with the startup time, I just thought there might be something wrong with my system...
