So I am sitting here and watching a video and out of nowhere "beep beep" "beep beep" "beep beep", I start thinking that I am tweaking out, and so I close the window, I put my ear next to my Razer Leviathan V2, I then proceed to shut it off and restart the computer.
Unfortunately the "beep beep" "beep beep" "beep beep" begins again now through my headset and I am left pondering why it does that. So I begin looking through every single way on logs or anything for that matter to see why this happens. I go to TMOG and then check through the terminal with commands provided by Gemini and found nothing.
Not long after it stops it begins again, and again and again and again.
For context: The beeps go on for 3 minutes.
Gemini has suggested me to run these commands:
echo "options snd_hda_intel beep_mode=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hd-beep.conf
systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber
I want your opinion if I should use them or even better, if you have a better suggestion then I'd be happy to use it.
I used Ubuntu 24.04 in my search criteria as that is what Zorin 18 is based on.
I use Mojeek for the initial search and if nothing comes back that is relevant, I use the Brave search engine option out of the many that Mojeek offers. Invariably, the first result is Brave's A.I. result which gave the following:
" The continual beeping on Razer Leviathan V2 while watching videos in a browser on Ubuntu 24.04 is likely caused by the Sound Open Firmware (SOF) driver, which is known to trigger long beeps after a few minutes of audio playback on this Linux distribution.
To resolve this, you can apply a debug configuration workaround by adding the line options snd_sof sof_debug=1 to your system's ALSA configuration.
Steps to Fix:
- Open a terminal and edit the ALSA base configuration file:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
- Add the following line to the end of the file:
options snd_sof sof_debug=1
- Save the file and restart your computer or reload the audio modules.
This change has been reported by users to stop the intermittent beeping issue associated with video playback on Ubuntu systems using SOF audio drivers.
