I can't change the brightness of my notebook's

I can't change the brightness of my notebook's screen through the menu or through the terminal

Sorry, I won't be able to help you with this (thankfully, brightness controls work fine for my notebook on Zorin 16.3 Lite) but I will suggest that you update your post with additional information to help community members help you more easily:

  • What exact version of Zorin are you running?
  • What make and model is your notebook?
  • What CPU and, if separate, graphics card does it have?
  • Are you having any other issues with the display or graphics?
    • e.g. does the Night Mode orange tint work fine, do colours display properly, do videos play without stuttering or artefacts, etc.
  • Have you checked that there are no proprietary drivers available in the Software Updater tool?
  • What commands did you run in the terminal to change the brightness?

The more information you can provide up-front, the more likely someone will be able to jump in with a known solution, or at least know the best place to start working with you to find the solution.
