I want to try out KDE connect for the 1st time & see how much of my smartphone I can access. Which should i chose? Why is there a duplicate?

Sometimes there are unofficial versions that are not maintained or supported by the upstream developer. In your case the upstream developer would be KDE.

The store may show multiple versions because of the source. It may be an aptitude package (.deb), flatpak package or snap package... you can filter by source which will ensure that duplicate versions won't be shown, in the store settings.

@337harvey , @Turtle11 , whats the difference between the two?

I've noticed that even though they look the same, picture 1 shows the developer. Picture 2 does not.

You will only be able to tell by hitting the source button in the upper right corner of the window.

You can remove the package managers you don't use, snap, flatpak, then it will only show the software by the remaining package types.

That is odd. And why does it say "Updated: Never"? That is a bit misleading.

Either way, I would run:

sudo apt install kdeconnect

in terminal and just resolve it all that way.

That is odd. It should state aptitude, snap or flatpak.

Do you intend to use flatpak? It's like snap. Another package type that includes dependencies along with the application with every piece of software. If you don't intend on using flatpak, you can remove it, which would most likely remove duplicates, except between snap and aptitude packages.

A lot of people choose to use Synaptic instead. It takes some getting used to, but only shows aptitude packages, I believe.
