I'm trying to change background in linux, how to manually adjust background ? it is scaled up and gets distorted

basically the background gets cropped and scaled up /distorted when i set a new background either when i go to the zorin appearance and change it from there or when i right click an image and set it as a background. I'd like to have the full photo as a background. solutions?

Maybe try installing GNOME Tweaks

sudo apt install gnome-tweaks

and going into the apperance tab?
