Impressions of v18r2

*My BrosTrend wifi dongle is now plug&play

*The floating taskbar and windows look cool but are a bit annoying and waste pixels. You can turn them off by setting clearances to zero in Taskbar and Tiling settings.

*No more native auto-switching wallpaper lite/dark mode but you can use the new Tweaks for that.

*File picker now shows large icons in Tweaks (just use Tweaks for selecting wallpaper so you will always get lite/dark mode switching).

*The new Nautilus now has the path in the search window. No more hitting Ctrl-L for location

*The Activities icon is now scroll-able. No need for Panel Scroll extension.

*Still has the same old trash can icon but that's easy to change

Update: My web cam does not work.

Huawei HiCamera driver: snd-usb-audio,uvcvideo type: USB

On other distros, it can be made to work by unplugging it and plugging it back in one or two times (it's always worked immediately before, must be an Ubuntu/Gnome problem).

Yes, I did install the latest Gnome Camera app. A picture eventually came up at 1 frame/30 secs but now nothing. Yes, I did try different USB ports and cleaned them. Also tried another computer.

If you have a Huawei HiCamera, don't expect it to work on v18.

I would switch to Anduin OS but printers are still very flaky and there is no way to get the Activities button to show on the taskbar.

It's always something!

I had an issue with an old Logitech webcam but got it sorted in the end. I installed Cheese and had no issues, but I think I had to put it in front top USB 2.0 Port as the USB 3.0 and 3.1 ports at the rear were not liked. (Zorin 18 Plasma experiment).

OK, I tried Cheese again and it worked (after unplugging and replugging). Snapshots and vid recording don't work but you can always use Print Screen.

Then I tried Zoom and OBS and they seem to work normally. I just assumed they wouldn't, oops.

BTW, here is my trash can.
