In space I went

with "Galactic Civilization 4". If you ever played Stellaris and liked it, you'll love GC4. It's 4X strategy in space. Turn based.

It's for half price now.

Neither Stellaris nor GalCiv ever worked for me (for clarity, they worked on my computer, but I hate them both...), but if you're interested in other space based 4X games, you might try Endless Space or Endless Space 2. I really enjoyed both of those.

I got Endless Space 2 in my Steam library, but I never gave it a fair chance.

You should! No rush though if you're enjoying GalCiv. It occurs to me that my post was pretty rude, and I apologize. I've spent the last two days at war with DIMMs, and it has damaged my basic manners it seems. To anyone else--I'm not saying GalCiv is bad; just that it didn't suit me. Stardock games generally don't.

Not even Sins of a Solar Empire 2? I find it amazing RTS game.

RTSes are out of the question for me, ALMOST always. I'm awful beyond compare at them, to the point that having fun isn't possible. My best friend was confident they could teach me to play RTSes. I warned them it wouldn't work. They sat me down with Warcraft 3 (this was years ago), and on the very first map, I almost got Arthas killed. My friend abandoned any notion of hope for me at that point.

There are a couple of exceptions: World in Conflict, and some Warhammer 40k RTS from years back. Neither relied on base building, and I was much better and was able to have fun with World in Conflict. The Warhammer game got ruined by painfully bad writing, but the gameplay was fine.

Endless Space 2 is now installed. I even made an icon for it

ehhmm... how do I play the game? IS there any Tutorial?

Click new game and it'll prompt you for the level of tutorial you want.

There are only 2 space games that took my fancy the first being the Wing Commander series with great cut scenes and you could argue it's really a space flight simulator. The other is Homeworld (I did manage to finish the original game and got to hear the song from Yes). I purchased the remaster from GOG but the controls didn't appear as responsive as the original and Homeworld2.
Homeworld2 was a disaster for me being obliterated in under 30 seconds from first launch. I am glad I never got Homeworld3 based on the numerous poor reviews on Steam. In terms of 8-bit gaming music, mind.in.a.box creates a great album called R.E.T.R.O. remastering one of the highest voted game music from the 80’s:

As a teen I only had Wing Commander 2 in the mainline series, but I loved it. I wasn't interested in the live action cutscenes they did in 3, so I never pursued it. I did however go for the spinoff, Privateer. I loved that game so much.
