last time I had this issue with another program, I just played around with permissions in properties until it worked, but it doesn't work that way this time and I don't know what to do
Can you show its current permissions with a screenshot?
Can you right-click on the icon and select "allow launching"?
Edit: I did a short research about this program and I'm not sure if it will work well on Zorin. It seems not to support ubuntu by default:
A fedora user reported about many problems launching it because of missing libraries and files.
I use wine to open programs that don't work with zorin, so it's okay. also, there's no "allow launching" option there when I right-click the icon
Can you please post the content of the .desktop file? Right-click on the icon and then select "Open with other application" and search for the texteditor, then click on "select" to open the file.
